The Chair - The Road To Hammer Junkie

Red Blooded, Scintillating and Infectious follow-up to Huinka. This albam takes The Chair's reputation and spins it round on its head.

The second coming of Orkney's wild eyed islanders, The Road to Hammer Junkie cements Th Chair's reputation for making high energy, infectious dance music. Still steeped in Orkney heritage The Chair draw on their roots for this entertaining follow-up to the hugely successful 'Huinka'. The Chair's big sound is stretched over 11 tracks of tunes and songs laced with sparky grooves and spicy arrangements. With twin fiddles, accordion, drums, bass guitar, banjo and hammer, these guys have achieved international acclaim since Huinka and now go on to the next level. The Chair manage to translate their barnstorming festival performances onto CD without losing any of the energy and dynamism of the live shows. This album is one to put a smile on your face, a bounce in your step and warmth in your heart. This is folk music for the 21st century, traditional and forward looking.

David Glen's Ancient Collection Of Piobaireachd Book 7

First published in 1880. 44 pages, soft cover.

DAVID GLEN’S ‘A Collection of Ancient Piobaireachd’, despite the fact that it has been almost totally unavailable since the 1950s, is still one of the most important repositories of the Piobaireachd tradition. David Glen (1853-1916) was heavily involved in piping in the second half of the eighteen-hundreds. The son of Alexander Glen, a prominent Edinburgh-based bagpipe maker, he took up the family business which had expanded into publishing and during his own lifetime set a new benchmark with his own prolific output.

Sir Hector MacKenzie of Gairloch's Lament; The Red Hand in the MacDonalds' Arms; The Lament for the Dead; Melbank's Salute; A Lament for Captain MacDougall; A Lament for Ronald MacDonell of Morar; Duntroon's Pibroch; MacLeod of MacLeod's Salute; The Marquis of Argyll's Salute; In Praise of Marion (The MacDougalls' Pibroch); The Unjust Incarceration; The MacDuffs' Gathering (The Inverness Pibroch); The Battle of Auldearn; The Grahams' Gathering); Lady Margaret Macdonald's Salute; My Dearest on earth, give me your kiss!
